Prayer Requests

Greetings, addedSOULS community. This is the June 2022, prayer list. Be sure to reach out and share any request we can bring to God in prayer. These will rotate as days move forward. We urge you to dedicate time during the day for this purpose. God will bless you. Thank you kindly.

1. Please pray for our sister Virginia's niece, she's scheduled for heart surgery on the 11th of June. Thank you kindly.

2. @Lilome - "Please pray for my brother in law, Ernie. He is having his fourth surgery to remove some more of his toes, due to side effects of diabetes. Thank you so much."

3. @cproffitt - "I have 3 requests. First, my brother, Ed Backer. I have mentioned him before seeking prayers for his alarming low white blood cell count. He has now been diagnosed with a bone marrow disease. This disease can progress into cancer. He has an upcoming appointment with an oncologist. However, his appointment is not till August…😔…(he is being cared for by the VA and apparently it is difficult to get appointments with specialists). The delay in seeing the oncologist concerns me greatly. The good news is that he is a strong, faithful Christian, so he is not shaken knowing that God is in control.

Next is my nephew, Randy. Randy has been battling cancer for the past 13 years. It started in his colon and has spread to his spine, lungs and brain. Sadly, he is not a Christian, he was raised as a Methodist. While residing in Tennessee, (he is now in Florida), he was visited by a dear friend who is an an elder in the church. They spoke of spiritual matters, but Randy has not taken the steps to be baptized. Please pray for him physically, but more importantly spiritually.

Lastly, my son’s dear friend, Tami. She is a young mother and wife and was recently hospitalized where they found stage 4 ovarian cancer. She is not a Christian. I spoke to her briefly and asked if I could arrange a visit from someone in the church that would talk to her and pray for her. She agreed. However, she told me she had her own ideas on spiritual matters, but felt that someone praying for her would be a good thing. She is of the mindset that she can beat her cancer through her own pursuit of holistic methods, diet, and ”positive vibes”. I told her I would rally all the prayer warriors I could, so please pray for her healing, but more importantly pray that God will provide the right person to visit with her and that the Holy Spirit will guide them in reaching this loss soul.

Thank you, brothers and sisters!"

"Water Baptism, Saves?"

In 1 Peter 3:21, we see the explicit inspired words of Peter the Apostle of Jesus the Christ. Was he teaching the Christians of the 1st Century that they were saved by "water?" What exactly did Peter mean within the context? This and more we explore in this exclusive LOCALS podcast session.

POLL question: "was Peter the Apostle married?"

"Water Baptism, Saves?"

Happy Lord's Day !!

Faithful Christians:

Our little children have seen us cry, devastated in deep sorrow; have they not wept along with us? Have we not embraced and shared tears, seeking an answer from God, guidance, hope, peace, justice, and mercy? Are we not humbled before the great I AM? Yes, yes, it is true. When we hurt, they hurt and break, yet God gracefully heals us. The selfish and cold-hearted never humble themselves to the damage they cause; sin has no remorse. But what evil workers fail to know is how stronger in love the faithful flourish, despite their hate. It's not easy being the voice who leads and ministers. It's not easy going through trial and temptation, but we learn patience, do we not? We grow in wisdom, correct? We learn to discern, becoming more fruitful for the Master.

Is it not remarkable how Paul described himself as a prisoner of Christ Jesus when the world considered him the prisoner of Rome? Did not the world consider itself victorious over Christ on the cross, only to be defeated...

Rescued - Transferred - Redeemed
The Kingdom of His beloved Son

You've fallen asleep comfy in your bed, and a fire started in your house. You wake to panic as you become aware of your surroundings, trapped by a wall of lavalike heat. You find yourself in danger, where smoke and flames threaten your life. Your neighbors were capable of seeing the threat and had since called for help. The firefighters arrive on the scene and immediately find you in your bedroom--time for a rescue. Are you yet seen in a location of satety? No, not yet. There still needs to be a transfer from the site of dakness, smoke, and fire to an area of light, fresh air, and safety. And so the firefighters guide you out of certain death into a secure location. You have now been saved, not without damage, trauma, and loss. But you've gained your life and get to learn fowared another day.

You've become idle in your sinful behavior and practices. You wake to panic as you become aware of your eternal punishment. A neighbor cares for you enough to share Jesus with you. Will you obey the gospel?

The reception of forgivness was the desired result of all who willfully gave their lives to Christ, submissive to His spiritual operation (Col. 2:11-12). Paul, the apostle, speaking to his brethren in Colossae, was accurate in reminding them of their reconciliation. And how the Word of God they had chosen to hear produced fruit for the Kingdom. The Kingdom was God's preplanned location where all found within would have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

A domain needs a King, Christ Jesus. A Kingdom has boundaries, borders, law and order, and justice. This Kingdom is of a peculiar kind, and we should all seek first legal citizenry (Mt. 6:33). His Kingdom is the body, the church (Col. 2:1,18,24). The body for it has organic members all united for the purposed function--the church fo its assembly, it's family. The way in? Being a repentant believer confessing Christ, immersed into water calling on His name, in order to receive the forgiveness of your sins, being added to His Kingdom, local assembly (i.e. "rescued, transferred, redeemed").

This good news of Jesus Christ "was proclaimed in all creation" to give humankind a way out of the flames and sinful consequences. And we are wise to hear its call.

Is your house on fire?

Ref. Colossians 2:13-24

Your servant,

SM
